Gucci Patent Hobo – not for me

gucci hysteria patent hoboDo we like this Gucci patent hobo? I find it really verges on the tacky side of designer. Over here there is the start of a reaction to overpriced ostentatious designer bags, and for me this Gucci medium patent hobo bag in a tortoise print is the kind of design that fuels that feeling. Did the designers decide to see just how awful they could make a bag with material handling while trading on the Gucci name? Are there really women out there who find this bag attractive, and worth the price tag of $1300 +? If that is you, please let me know.

Baby Phat affordable designer handbags

A fairly new handbag designer label is Baby Phat, a fashion house that is also known for its range of clothing and other young women’s accessories with big links to the hip hop scene. The Baby Phat logo is a very cool cat, modelled on an ancient Egyptian goddess image. The creative head of Baby Phat is Kimora Lee Simmons, a former catwalk model who has pursued many roles in fashion before heading up this label’s design team. They have a passion for producing high end designer bags for a low ticket price.

The designs echo all that is dear to the leaders and followers of hip hop: top celebrity names like Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez regularly carry Baby Phat, and their fans cannot wait to get their hands on the same bags. The great thing is, the price of these bags falls within a normal fashion budget! Read more »

Biasia handbag spotted

I was out last night at a reception in my local women’s boutique and I was chatting with many of the customers. One lady was persuaded to buy a number of outfits and as she opened her bag to pay I noticed the label inside her bag – Francesco Biasia – which struck me as this is a hot handbag designer label that I recently tipped as a rising star. It was a long slim clutch bag in two shades of grey, and when I told the woman she was really happy to think she was setting a trend with her bag!  Don’t we all like to get a compliment for something we are wearing? The next time anything catches my eye on another woman’s outfit I willl make a point of telling her, because I know it always makes my day if it happens to me.

Ethnic Print Louis Vuitton Scarf

scarf ethnic kate mossHere is a way to wear this season’s edgy designer scarf. Kate Moss is wearing a Louis Vuitton Leopard Print Scarf, by Stephen Sprouse: this is sold out in London, Paris and New York as a result. Whatever has happened with Kate Moss in the past, she knows how to display clothes and accessories to their best advantage: no wonder she kept her contracts with the top designers in spite of her bad CAT6 habits. Anything she wears in public becomes instantly sought after and this ethnic looking cashmere scarf has been snapped up by the fashionistas who want to be seen following the same trends this autumn. Note also that Kate Moss is clutching a small make up bag – is this the credit crunch version of the oversized designer bag?

Designer Scarves Affordable Luxury This Season

If you do not think you can afford that Designer Bag that you saw in Paris Fashion Week, there is another way to get the essential look this season. Look out for the Designer status symbol scarf, as worn by your favourite celebs. After Designer Bags were this week classified as passe, which means too expensive, the high end scarf is becoming a great way to acquire an accessory from a luxury brand. Of course this is not new – Hermès was more famous for its timeless scarves until the company joined in the designer bag boom. A vintage scarf by Hermès can command a four figure price, but a new Hermès silk square costs just £140. Compare this with £6000 the company’s desirable kelly Handbag, and the price of a scarf is relatively inexpensive. The scarf is available now – there is a 2-year wait for the bag, so demand for high end bags has not entirely dried up! vegas hotel
