Anya Hindmarch bags are over
Has the designer bag been finished by the new recession and the antics of the banks’ futures trading rooms? According to Anya Hindmarch, designer of countless It Bags, says “The It Bag is dead”. That is right, the woman who made £20 million from selling luxury designer handbags, asserted ” I am not a silly little fashionista”. Thanks, Anya: I guess she is about to launch a range of credit crunch handbags, following on from the fortune made from sales of the reusable bag in Sainsbury’s. ‘I am not a plastic bag’ caused queues outside the stores, but at least that time the customers made money as well. Many of those bags appeared on eBay within hours, and were resold for several times the original price. I am sure that fewer Jimmy Choo Ramona bags will be sold this season, but will Harvey Nichols stop selling out of designer handbags? Hardly!

I had another look at the Jimmy Choo sale last night, there are some stunning reductions. But hurry up because some colours have already sold out. The Polly Face bag, for example, is another Jimmy Choo original that was featured in the film of Sex and the City and it is now online for a whopping 30 per cent reduction. This is your chance to get hold of a genuine Jimmy Choo bag at a great price!
On my recent trip into London and Harvey Nichols, I spent a few minutes in the Jimmy Choo Handbags section. Actually I stayed longer because the assistant was so helpful. The Red Maddy bag caught my eye: not an oversized designer bag, but still quite roomy. But did you realise that the Jimmy Choo Maddy handbag adapts from its generous bucket shape to become a flat compact shoulder bag when you are not carrying very much with you? Although it will keep its squat shape (shown left), this bag has no rigid frame – great design and craftsmanship give this Jimmy Choo bag its flexibility. Have a look at the interior and you will find a beautiful suede lining with pockets all the way round for neat storage.
There are lots of gold studs and buckles but they are in a matt finish that just keeps the Maddy on the right side of good taste. In this Poppy colour the Maddy is just what you need on a rainy day. My helpful assistant told me the bag is also available in sand colour as well as black. He explained there was more stock than just the bags on show, and he opened the door to a huge floor to ceiling cupboard, crammed with dozens of Jimmy Choo Handbags, all nestled neatly in their protective cotton covers. The Jimmy Choo Maddy Bag retails at £795, and actually I think this is pretty good value for the quality of the materials and craftsmanship.
Beautiful leatherwear and handbags by Jimmy Choo are seen around the trendy areas worldwide. Jimmy Choo’s most successful designer handbag of late is the limted edition Bari bag. This covetable designer purse in black crocodile leather was limited to less than a dozen samples in the United States, at a jaw-dropping price tag close to $30,000. If you want an economy Jimmy Choo bag (ha ha), then you could try for a Ramona bag, retailing at E15,000. You will be the envy of everyone you know with this little beauty on your arm.
