Kate Moss Launches Top Shop NY (pic Splash)

The outfit is from the collection, the tiered multi coloured dress was inspired by the model’s own vintage buy, a thrift store dress that did not fit.  The sample was used as a basis for this cute design.  I am not so taken with the tuxedo jacket. It looks great on her, but on me I think it would just look butch.

This week I was away on a rare mini-break and of course I spent some time shopping. Important shopping, of course – handbags and perfume! Thanks to the staff at Gatwick airport I got four hours’ shopping in the duty free shop as the flight was delayed.  Still, I had plenty of time to visit the Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent counters, and try their latest fragrances.  Then I found a Designer Handbag shop next to the Harrods airport shop.  This was where I looked at some great Marc by Marc Jacobs bags in black and a gorgeous shade of plum, as well as this cute little Chanel grab bag in red – I just adore red handbags!

Now I am travelling more often, I am thinking of getting annual travel insurance – I’ll need it to protect all those gorgeous handbags.

I managed to spend a few precious designer minutes in Harvey Nichols today, checking out their designer handbag collections. This temple of consumption has established itself as a style leader. I prefer to visit Harvey Nicks than the designers’ own stores which are crammed along the length of Sloane Street. The handbags section is spacious and funky, and most of the assistants leave you to browse in peace. There are two Marc Jacobs sections – one for the ‘economy class’, with a further Jacobs collection in the room where the serious money designer bags are on display. Some of the ‘Marc by Marc Jacobs’ bags had gone completely over the top with ultra shiny patent leather – dare I say tacky – and OTT metal clasps and emblems.
