The long awaited first visit by the Obamas to london has begun.  This will be a time for major discussions over our future economic survival, and also keen attention on another significant subject.  I mean Michelle Obama’s outifts, of course! For her first appearance as she emerged from the presidential plane Mrs Obama wore a Jason Wu dress in yellow silk-crepe with a crossover neckline and camisole effect.  A black silk coat and studded black Alaïa belt above the waist kept the look right on the moment.

The following morning she met the Prime Minister’s wife Sarah brown, again.  This time Michelle favoured high street style from American retailer J Crew.  Her bright outfit of white sequinned cardigan pale green metallic skirt and patterned shiny shoes contrasted with Sarah Brown’s sober dark navy knitted dress and semi-opaque navy tights. the last time the two first ladies met I predicted that Michelle was likely to steal the scene in london.  It is really sad – London is the fashion capital of the world and we have plenty of designers capable of steering Sarah Brown to a look that is right for her status.  Where are they?  The Handbag Prime Minster (Thatcher) was not too proud to take makeover advice, and Michelle Obama uses all the resources available to help her look fab.  next stop – Buckingham Palace.  Which designer will dress Ms Obama for that event?
